MEET
STEVE JACOB

Representative Steven Jacob has officially announced his candidacy for the Minnesota Senate, seeking to represent District 20.

Senate District 20 is a largely rural district encompassing much of southeastern Minnesota, including extensive portions of Olmsted, Winona, Wabasha, and Goodhue counties. The district reflects the values, priorities, and challenges of Minnesota’s agricultural communities and small towns.

A fourth-generation family farmer and former ten-year Winona County Commissioner, Jacob brings decades of hands-on experience in local government and land stewardship. He has served on numerous water resource boards and volunteer committees, earning a reputation as a practical problem-solver and strong advocate for rural Minnesota.

Elected to the Minnesota Legislature in 2022, Jacob was appointed to the Agriculture and Finance Committee, the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, the Office of the Legislative Auditor, and the Subcommittee on Minnesota Water Policy. In these roles, he effectively applied his agricultural and environmental background to address critical rural issues, including leading efforts related to nitrate contamination in southeast Minnesota.

During his first term, Jacob also led the successful effort to defeat the proposed Driftless National Park, a plan that would have had devastating consequences for private landowners, farmers, and local communities.

Jacob has a long-standing record as a government watchdog with a proven commitment to fiscal responsibility and reducing the size and scope of government. He looks forward to continuing that work in the Minnesota Senate.

Steven has been married to his wife Mary for 38 years. Their marriage is grounded in their shared Christian faith, and they raised their four children on the family’s 146-year-old farm. Steve and Mary are proud grandparents of six grandchildren and have remained deeply involved in their church and community through years of service.

Jacob stated, “I am deeply thankful for the support I have received over the years and am excited for the campaign ahead. I am blessed to stand with Minnesotans who understand the urgency of restoring balance in state government. Together, we can end the Democrat-controlled trifecta and elect conservative leaders up and down the ballot, from President to county boards, township boards, school boards, and beyond. God bless America, and God bless Minnesota.
THE JACOB FAMILY

Steve was first elected as a conservative Winona County Commissioner nearly twelve years ago. During his time on the Winona County Board, he's demonstrated his ongoing commitment to rural values: faith, family, and farming. He has four adult children and six grandchildren living nearby.

Six generations of Jacobs now reside on the original 300-acre family farm. Steve's younger days were busy preparing to take over the family's farming legacy. He's spent his life as devoted Christian pursuing various pursuits on the family farm. His interest in politics and government came out of his own journey of government overreach. Steve has been active on a myriad of church, community, and county boards and volunteering.
